5. Plagiarism and Similarity Screening

JSPD is committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing plagiarism and inappropriate reuse of scholarly work. Submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection or text similarity software before proceeding to peer review.

The editorial team carefully evaluates similarity reports, taking into account properly cited quotations, reference lists, common terminology, and other forms of text similarity that may be academically justified. The similarity percentage alone is not the sole basis for determining whether plagiarism has occurred.

Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, inappropriate text reuse, or other forms of academic misconduct may be returned to the authors for correction, rejected, or handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following forms:

  1. Direct plagiarism: Taking or reproducing another person's words or work without appropriate quotation, acknowledgment, or citation.

  2. Substantial plagiarism: Using significant portions of another person's work without proper attribution, whether assessed by the amount of text used or its intellectual significance.

  3. Improper paraphrasing: Presenting another person's ideas, arguments, or findings in different wording without acknowledging the original source.

  4. Self-plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without proper citation or disclosure when such reuse conflicts with publication ethics or the journal's policy.

The editorial board determines appropriate actions based on the nature, severity, and available evidence of the violation, in accordance with applicable editorial standards and publication ethics.
